She’s so close to sitting! She occasionally gets excited and arches her back and falls over, but pretty soon!

Emerald – 5 Months Old
Whoa our baby is five months old, when did that happen!?
This little girl is growing up fast! This month she probably weighs about 13 lbs now, still fitting into most of her 3 month clothes, hopefully by 6 months she’ll be in her 6 month clothes. We started her on solids, though she is not a fan. She just spits it back out and gives us a dirty look (see video below, ha). The food she tolerates the most are prunes, crazy girl.
She still sleeps great and takes naps great thanks to sleep training. She loves to play with her toys, especially anything that lights up or makes noise. She also really wishes she could crawl and chase Eddy… time to start thinking about baby proofing and putting up gates. And she’s still afraid of some strangers, ha.
She gives us giggles and she makes us laugh so much. We just love her so much!
Happy 5 months baby girl!
Family Weekend
Pumpkin Carving 2014
So we picked pumpkins, next to-do on the fall list for 2014 was to carve them! Emerald had her super strong daddy’s help…. she just got to watch 🙂
Emerald Plays
Babywise & Emerald
Ever since Emerald was born we tried to follow the Babywise schedule. It was really the only book I had “read” (it’s in quotes because I haven’t quite read the whole book yet) and had a few friends recommend it, so figured why not. I figured with me working it was really important we get on a schedule so she 1. sleeps at night 2. behaves for her babysitters.
As a newborn she followed the schedule easily, probably because she liked to sleep so much. But around three months we definitely had our trying times where she wasn’t a great day time napper. But, I think sticking to Babywise and being consistent with sleep training (aka letting her fall asleep on her own) has finally paid off and nap time is now a breeze!
We can literally put her in her crib and she’ll fuss for a minute or two and then she’s out (hallelujah!). I think she knows it’s coming now too and is happy to rest her eyes a bit. We’ve also learned she likes a few things like a blanket in her face, her nook, her sound machine to help her get in the mood for sleepy time.
I hear there is a four month sleep regression, but really hoping it skips us, ha!
Life at Four Months – Emerald
Emerald Eats!
At Emerald’s four month baby well appointment, her doctor told us to start her on cereal.
She’s been interested in sitting at the dinner table for quite some time and takes interest in our food and tries to grab it. But when we sat her down in her high chair to try some cereal, she wasn’t a fan!
We first teased her with some Lucky Charms, Drew’s favorite… she was happy with that idea!
Then we gave her the real stuff (watch this clip). She was smiles for a bit, but basically spit it all out (she’s still learning to close her mouth and swallow vs. using her tongue to spit it out). So we’ll keep trying a little at a time, and hopefully she’ll get that down and take more interest! For now it’s just another fun activity…
This face basically sums up how much she enjoys baby cereal…
Fall Family Day 2014
Last year we started the tradition of a fall family day, and this year we added three more babies to the fun! We went to Cedarburg Creek Farms since it’s about half way for us to meet Becky and Josh. We went on a hayride, checked out some animals and looked at all the pumpkins!
Next on the fall checklist is carving pumpkins!
Emerald // 4 Months Old
Our little gem is four months old today!
She weighs about 12 lbs (we’ll confirm at her doctors appointment next week, along with her height) now, she’s still our little peanut! She’s wearing 0-3 or 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. This month she rolled over for the first time, belly laughed and squeals with excitement like no one’s business. She also had her first cold (along with Drew and I) and had her first ear infection, poor baby.
We successfully transitioned her to sleeping in her crib at night, usually sleeping 8-9 hours! She definitely has her favorite people, she loves her mom and dad and her grammie (my mom), and sometimes is scared of others and cries, like when she’s in the nursery.
She is definitely developing a little personality and is constantly making us laugh, we love her so much!
Emerald can’t wait to try solid food this next month, as she’s been very interested at eating at the dinner table with us!
Check out her 4 month video too!
