Christmas at Home – 2014

Christmas was busy busy! We have photos from all our different celebrations that occurred over the course of a few weeks, but I haven’t gotten the chance to comb through them all yet, but here is how our little family of three celebrated Christmas!

Christmas Eve we got dressed up and headed to Life Church for their Christmas Eve Services. Emerald being scared of strangers didn’t make it through the whole service in the nursery so we enjoyed it in the lobby.

Christmas morning we started the day eating breakfast and opening presents just the three of us!

Zany Zoo

I’ve made it a goal in 2015 to learn more about photography. I’ve already been working on my focus (using back button + manual selection), white balance and nailing the exposure. I’ve also been trying to think about composition, perspective and storytelling within photos.

So here’s a story about a little girl playing with her new Zany Zoo she got from her nanna while her mom got some work done 😉

And then she gets bored and starts watching tv…

Next up, working on consistent lighting/coloring between images in a series.

Emerald – 6 Months

Happy half birthday baby girl! It’s crazy that 6 months has already gone by!

This little girl continues to grow, weighing at 13 lbs 11oz and wears 0-3 month clothes and is just starting to fit into her 6 month outfits! She smiles and laughs all the time and she’s developed such a personality.  I’ve noticed her personality is a bit more like mine – when she’s around people she doesn’t know she’s quiet and shy and tends to just take everything in, but when she’s at home, she is all over the place and yells and squeals all day long.

She still is scared of strangers, still doesn’t like food – though she had a really good day where she ate sweet potatoes, green beans and carrots and begged for more. She loves her milk though, drinking 6oz every 3-4 hours. She’s always touching her toes and just discovered her hands and will sit memorized by them. She also likes to imitate us, for example she fake coughs all the time. She still sleeps great and all night, though we just had a week where getting her to fall asleep in her crib was a challenge, but I think we’ve made it over that hurdle!

We can’t wait to see what the next 6 months holds, but we also wouldn’t mind if time slowed down!

Here’s a day in the life of Emerald at 6 months:

Christmas Traditions 2014

It’s tradition we spend a night baking cookies together, and of course we had to include little miss Emerald! She didn’t get to try any… the best she got was a taste of the oil on the cookie sheet, and she did manage to break one of the letters, ha!

We also started a new tradition of decorating a tree for Emerald for her room! This year we went with an emerald-colored theme!

St. Nick 2014

St. Nick made a special trip to our home to give Emerald some new balls! He also was nice enough to get me some candy, an iTunes gift card and an ornament, and brought Drew a video game and some peeps!

Thanksgiving 2014

Emerald’s first Thanksgiving was a blast. We first hung out at my parent’s house with all of my family and the many babies, ha! We took our annual group photo and let the babies get a taste of a turkey bone! Then we headed to Drew’s family’s Thanksgiving for our second dinner, dessert and games!

One Year Ago – Emerald

Crazy to think this day exactly one year ago we got to see this little peanut for the first time on a screen!

She’s grown quite a lot since then, ah and she can’t believe it! Plus notice her fuzzy head she’s finally growing some hair! Drew likes to call her that “fuzzy head”…
