Drew’s Job!!!

We are soo0000 excited to say that Drew just found out he was offered a position at Milwaukee Electric Tool as a Mechanical Engineer. AND he accepted!!! He’ll begin his position in the Rotary Hammer Department upon graduation in June of 2012.

Drew briefly interned with Vanessa’s uncle Scott, just learning the ropes and the design process at Milwaukee Tool in October 201o. He began a second internship in June 2011 in the Rotary Hammer Department. There he designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested a rotary hammer prototype. Towards the end of his internship, he was asked to stay on through the school year. In October, he began the interview process for the position, which included numerous events and four 1-hour long interviews at the end.

He is super excited, because he loves the people he gets to work with and that it continues to challenge him and that he gets to apply all he has learned to this job. As he finished out his school year, he keeps in mind how things he is learning can benefit Milwaukee Electric.

Fall Date Day 2011

We’ve made it a traditions (well this is only the 2nd time) to go out on a fall-themed date. This time our intention was to go to Elegant Farmer to pick apples and pumpkins, however we saw the “minimum amount” of apples you had to pick and it was just WAY too much for us to eat. So we picked two and ate them, then went to get pumpkins instead. Hopefully we’ll have time to go to a corn maze too and to carve the pumpkins!

Fishing with Dad

Each Summer, we try to go out fishing with my dad on his boat. While we really hate to give up a Saturday to sleep in, to get up at the crack of dawn – we usually suck it up. Luckily this time, we got to go out in the evening. We both caught a couple fish, however my dad none. Sad!

Patio Garden 2011 – Update 3 – Lilies

I’ve been taking photos everyday to document the changes in these plants, and I finally had time to weed through them and post them! This garden update we will call Lilies, because that is what was most in bloom this month or so. Next up will be the dahlias!

This is what is going to be in bloom next…Dahlias!

I have a couple plants that like to stay inside… like  a fern, an aloe plant that I call a cactus, a begonia, and a mini lion king tree from ikea.

Patio Garden 2011 – Update 2

Here is an update now that Summer is actually here! Now I’ve planted lots of things we had leftovers of at work, such as Lilies, Elephant Ears, Dahlias, Begonias, and more. So many actually I am having a hard time what is planted where. It’ll be a surprise later when they bloom.

We also got these super nice pottery containers from leftovers, which then I had to go buy something larger to place inside it. So I planted a rose bush and a few other things.

This poor guy got fried when I put him outside…

Melissa & Ben’s Wedding

My sister Melissa got married this past weekend, and it was lots of fun. I was the matron of honor and Drew was an usher. My good friend, Heather took some photos as practice for her own business, along with my other friend Amy who was the “official photographer.” Here are some shots from the wedding… more will probably be coming.

Our First Anniversary

Can’t believe we’ve been married a whole entire year. That just doesn’t seem right, can we still be newlyweds?

For our anniversary, we spent the weekend in downtown Milwaukee. We went to the zoo, comedy sportz, the domes, bradford beach and relaxed. We stayed at the Iron Horse Hotel. PS the hotel is the coolest in Milwaukee probably.

We had an awesome weekend together getting away from the real world. Can’t wait to do it again!

Patio Garden 2011

It is my goal this year since now that I work at a place that sells flower bulbs… to:
A. Have a patio garden
B. Not kill the plants.
It is still pretty cold here, but I started some seeds inside and outside. Here is their progress. Also, I’ll be starting some more “bulbs” later once we have stock left over once the selling season is over. Look for updates and keep me accountable for not killing them.
