Christmas 2010

Our first Christmas as “married people” was awesome! Though it wasn’t the same opening presents early on Christmas morning with our sisters and brothers, it was our own. Christmas Eve we went to LifeChurch’s Christmas Eve service with some of our family. After before going to our Aunt & Uncles, we made our traditional stop at McDonalds. We only eat appetizers, so we usually get in a quick meal first. We open presents with our crazy little cousins and got to spend time with all the sisters and brother-in-laws/fiances. Here are some photos from the night.

Christmas morning, we opened our own presents, played a little of the original Mario for the Wii, that Drew got from Vanessa. Then headed over to Vanessa’s parents house where the rest of our family comes over and we made Mongolian Beef. It was so yummy! We have lots of fun just relaxing, playing with the baby and whatnot.

When we got home from spending the day with our family, our cat was the most vegg-ed out cat ever, it looks like he enjoyed the peace and quiet. Drew got me a deep fryer, and now I have to find some new recipes (if you have some, send them to me!) We celebrated with Drew’s family earlier because some of them were heading to Florida for the weekend. All in all, a great first Christmas together as “married people.”

Married for Half a Year

Today is the day, we have officially been married for 6 whole months, a half of a year. It is crazy to think time has flown by this fast! We love every second of being married. We are also super excited for Vanessa’s sister Becky and Josh to tie the knot in just a couple weeks. Vanessa gets to be a bridesmaid and Drew gets to be a groomsmen this time around. Watch out for pictures from that event! But here is a quick trip down memory lane (this memory lane isn’t that long) from our wedding day, six short months ago!

First Snow for 2010!

Looks like we should probably scrap the pumpkins now that it is officially snowing. I think they are cold too. PS What do you do with old pumpkins? We are starting to decorate for Christmas, here are a few sneak peeks! And we are officially listening to Christmas music, whether Drew likes it or not (He secretly does!) We will post some of our favorite Christmas tunes soon too!

What Christmas tradition does your family do?

Christmas Cookies

As our first Christmas together, we are trying to create our own traditions that we can someday do with our kids. To start of the Christmas season, we decorated cookies for our stay-at-home date night. Luckily, being the graphic designer, Vanessa is, we got letter cookie cutters for a wedding present. Each year we are going to try to do the same spelling out which year it is.

Thanksgiving 2010

I love my family, they are the greatest, so it usually makes Thanksgiving that much more fun. We did an early thanksgiving with Drew’s family and then on the real thanksgiving celebrated with my family. Here are some photos from the day.

Fall-Themed Date

Lately with Drew and I’s schedules, we’ve been able to do date night on every Friday. Friday is currently my favorite day of the week now. But yesterday we went on a Fall-Themed Date. We went to Basses Farm in Germantown/Colgate area. We went through their cornmaze and then picked some pumpkins. PS Drew was super into the cornmaze, he navigated the whole way and I just followed.

Catching Up

So remember that long time ago, before I was married. It seems like forever ago, but we needed dressers. My aunt found some from Goodwill for us, and loved the construction of them, just not their appearance. Here they are.

So my dad sanded them and refinished them beautifully. Then I went to Hobby Lobby to pick out neat handles. So here they are!

It drives me nuts everyday. If I could I’d paint a huge wall with that chalkboard paint, I so would. Don’t think apartment people would appreciate it though.

Also, here are some other shots of some DIYs that I did when it was a lot warmer out and haven’t gotten around to posting. And notice we finally got some of our wedding photos in frames!

Summer Day with the Cousins

summer swimming days with the cousins
I decided it would be fun to give my aunt a break with the two older kids and take them swimming at our pool. And since I got a new camera, I thought I’d try it out. However, I didn’t trust myself bringing it to a place with a lot of water, so here is our day, minus the pool part. PS These kids are crazy, but I love them!
