Wedding number three, here we go. Since I’m the maid (matron) of honor in Melissa’s wedding, I obviously have to be involved in lost of the process. I’ve made her invitations so far, view them here. But also this past weekend was her shower. Fun stuff!
Drew and I have decided to be a part of the core team for the new West Campus at LifeChurch. It’s actually being held at the Marcus Majestic Theater, so it’s super close for us and we are excited to be volunteers. Drew is helping on the worship team, and Vanessa is helping with LifeKids and Greeting. The first launch service was April 3 and had over 400 people. So exciting! Here is a recap of the first week!
We got a huge tax return (wooot!) and since both our bdays were coming up, we decided to treat ourselves with a brand spankin new iPad2. We loooove it!
Vanessa went to Orlando for a web conference for her new job. It was super duper awesome to get away to the warm weather and learn more about my new job, however it was the first time we had been away from each other. I totally cried as I said good bye for a whole whopping three days. And it was our first valentine’s day as married peeps, and had to celebrate early since I’d be gone. But I survived and have these pictures to prove how awesome Florida is.

Thanks to a blizzard over the past few days, we both got a snow day today! Started it off sleeping in, Vanessa made breakfast and had a good cup of coffee. Vanessa helped Drew with a little homework, and then we decided we should go check out the snow outside , it drifted all the way up to our porch and deck on the second floor. Crazy. While Drew shoveled out, Vanessa took a few photos to document the day. Our cat Eddy was terrified of the snow and took it easy sleeping the day away. Here is what we have going on for the rest of the day… making some chinese food and cuddling up to a movie! What a great mid-week break.
Our first Christmas as “married people” was awesome! Though it wasn’t the same opening presents early on Christmas morning with our sisters and brothers, it was our own. Christmas Eve we went to LifeChurch’s Christmas Eve service with some of our family. After before going to our Aunt & Uncles, we made our traditional stop at McDonalds. We only eat appetizers, so we usually get in a quick meal first. We open presents with our crazy little cousins and got to spend time with all the sisters and brother-in-laws/fiances. Christmas morning, we opened our own presents, played a little of the original Mario for the Wii, that Drew got from Vanessa. Then headed over to Vanessa’s parents house where the rest of our family comes over and we made Mongolian Beef. It was so yummy! We have lots of fun just relaxing, playing with the baby and whatnot.
When we got home from spending the day with our family, our cat was the most vegg-ed out cat ever, it looks like he enjoyed the peace and quiet. Drew got me a deep fryer, and now I have to find some new recipes (if you have some, send them to me!) We celebrated with Drew’s family earlier because some of them were heading to Florida for the weekend. All in all, a great first Christmas together as “married people.”
My sister and new brother-in-law got married last weekend. We were both in the wedding party. Their photographer sent over one of their pictures (mainly so I can make a thank you postcard for them), but take a look, more cool stuff will be coming soon.
Sorry we have been holding out on everyone lately, we have been insanely busy the past few weeks with Christmas coming up, my sister’s wedding and getting ready for a NEW JOB! I had been applying to places like crazy for a few months now and was getting no where, and then this opportunity came out of the blue. On January 10, I will be the new graphic/web designer for the Holland Beauty E-Commerce sites, under the leadership of Jon Studer. Jon just emailed me one day to see if I could come in to talk about the position and I new right away it was the opportunity I’ve been waiting and looking for. God has perfect timing.
I will be working on the design side of the E-Commerce Sites, HollandBulbFarms.com and TulipWorld.com, as well as the future iPhone app, iMyGarden. So get ready for some new work. My internship and freelancing with Birds&Blooms of Readers Digest Association will hopefully help inside this flower world. I’ll be learning a lot of new things at this new job and am so excited to expand my knowledge. I don’t want to ever stop learning.
While I am excited to start this new amazing opportunity, I will miss my friends at VIF. It has been a good three years of learning and developing my skill, but it is time to move on to bigger and better things.
